Our restaurant is not the only one that you must try in San Juan |
Let’s meet the restaurants!
- Davide Punto Cucina: of course that our restaurant will be on this list! Our chef Davide mixes his Florentine cuisine with the explosion of the Puerto Rican flavors. The dishes are visually exquisite, the ingredients fresh and unexpected. Weekends are the best days to try these distinctive dishes.
- La Casita Blanca: the majority of Puerto Ricans would tell you that the best authentic, old-fashioned, home-cooked Puerto Rican food, will be at La Casita Blanca. Set in a corner of Santurce, the best day to go is Sunday when the locals will be there to enjoy a good meal and chat with everyone. This is certainly one of the best representations of Puerto Rican food.
- Marmalade Restaurant and Wine Bar: chef Peter Schintler likes to create unique dishes, using sustainable food instead of processed ingredients. They are well known for not following trends; instead, they try to indulge all their customer senses. One of the most interesting characteristic is their tasting menu, so that way you can explore more organic products from the island. As a plus, their vegetarian menu for a different option.
- Oceano: is a special restaurant focused on fish and seafood dishes (although there are plenty of meat dishes,) but their attractive point is the ocean view. Their chef Ann Marie Antonetti is always trying to incorporate the tropical flavors with the essence of the seafood. Enjoy a good meal with the ocean breeze.
- Santaella: chef José Santaella turned his catering business into this restaurant using his 20 years of experience. Santaella is known for using local ingredients, they are even coming from the farmers market next door! The restaurant mixes the island's tropical flavors with San Juan's rural heritage and current trends in cuisine. You will find in their menu dishes like Goat Cheese Quesadilla, Braised Pork Shank “Lacón”, and Quesitos horneados, which is a Puerto Rican cheese-filled pastry.
These five restaurants show you the Puerto Rican flavors, ingredients, and food. San Juan is a city with a culture so rich that you want to come back as soon as possible. And if you are planning a visit for the first time, take this list and give it a try. But never forget to visit Davide Punto Cucina, and experience our dishes that mix the Florentine flavors with the tropicals.
