Five Sauces that Go with Everything

Use sauces and put an extra touch of flavor in your meals.
Sauces can change a dish in many ways, making it the star of the meal and your cuisine. They can enhance the flavor or give it to meals like burgers, barbecues, pasta, and salads. There is nothing more horrible than a tasteless dish in a family dinner or friends reunion.

They have a variety of uses: to be part of the preparation (to marinate meat or fish), change the flavors, and work as decoration (nothing says perfection more than a touch of color in the dish with a tasty sauce). We are usually familiar with three sauces: ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard; but they’re cheapest in comparison with other options.

Uses of sauces

  • Texture: sauces can be presented in an array of textures; smooth or chunky, oil-based or thin liquid. Whatever the case, it can do wonders to the dish and put together different ingredients.

  • Balance or complement flavors: take for example the classic Caprese salad; tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil look amazing, but its taste can vary. It would be best to use a vinaigrette based in olive oil to complement the sweetness of the tomatoes, the cheese’s fat, and add to the vinaigrette’s flavor.

  • Juiciness: certain cooking methods can finish with a dry meal; but sauces can change that, especially barbeque, nothing better than juicy ribs thanks it!

  • Visual: decoration is essential for a dish, so sauces have become a huge part of this process. Adding a touch of color to a normally dull dish can make the difference in your kitchen.

Let’s see five sauces that can go with any meal and that are easy to prepare with the ingredients of your pantry, so go and make these for a new way to cook meals.

Adobo-honey

This sauce comes from South-American cuisine. The mix of red wine, honey, garlic, and greek yogurt brings a distinctive taste. It has a sweet, spicy, tangy, and creamy flavor that can be used to give more juiciness to meats and veggies, also as a salad dressing. With burgers, you will feel an explosion in every bite.

Nước chấm

A touch of the Asian cuisine -specifically from Vietnam- that mix sugar, garlic, fish sauce, and lime juice to create particular marinades for meats and veggies, salad dressings and even dips for fries or rolls. It has a savory, salty, and strong flavor.

Roasted red pepper and eggplant pesto

A Mediterranean creation that goes with any dish. It has a smoky, sweet, and nutty flavor because of the mixture from red peppers, Chinese eggplants, garlic, walnuts, and parsley. It can upgrade the grilled cheese sandwich, every pasta dish, burgers, and pizza; also works great with omelets and frittatas.

Chimichurri

This Mexican sauce has become a world-famous one with its fresh, pungent, and tangy flavor; besides the touch of color that can bring to a dish. The combination of parsley, cilantro, red wine, vinegar, shallot, and garlic can form a mixture that works incredible with meats and veggies -specially grilled-, tacos, sandwiches, soups, and even burgers.

Marinara

A classic Italian sauce that can be used in pasta, as a base for soups, proteins, veggies, and omelets. It combines the best of crushed tomatoes, garlic, shallot, brown sugar, and olive oil to finish with a sweet, tangy, and zesty flavor.

Different sauces to different meals but, in the end, they create and enhance delicious dishes for a perfect dinner with friends and family. Come to Davide Punto Cucina to taste one of our creations with a variety of sauces.
